Boutique yoga and pilates holidays in the glorious Andalusian sunshine

The Retreat, Last Summer

A short hop away from the UK our guests arrived at the tranquil setting of Cortijo El Maestro, full of excitement and in need of some rest & relaxation.

‘The Villa and its surroundings exceeded my expectations. Five star! The accommodation was gorgeous, with so many different spaces and beautiful views.’

The exotic scent of oranges, lemons the blossom in abundance really play a part in creating a Mediterranean vibe.

‘There was a refreshing sense of space – both practically and emotionally. Hosts were warm, friendly and incredibly generous.’

A typical day on a Pomegranate Retreat includes morning Pilates with Jen.

‘The airy, roomy light studio is amazing to teach in. I love the feel of it. The views are spectacular. I love starting the morning teaching Pilates in this beautiful space. It inspires my teaching and feeds me with the energy that I put into the class.’

A large breakfast after the class was always well received.

The garden at the back of the dining room was the perfect place to sit and enjoy the tasty food under the Spanish sun.

‘I loved the type of food, the variety, the colours, and the freshness.‘

Relaxing by the pool and swimming seemed to be a popular late morning activity.

‘I loved starting the day doing exercise then relaxing in the sunshine.’

For the more active of the group the option of a local walk was taken up.

‘The Walk in the hills around El Maestro was excellent, and the picnic and coffee in the village was really enjoyable. I felt it was the activity that most created social interaction outside of already familiar groups.’

Guests enjoyed the luxury of time and space to relax, read, swim, walk, receive a massage before early evening Yoga at 5.30pm.

Fran’s evening Yoga was a mix of Hatha and Restorative, and was a great way to switch off (even more) and challenge flexibility and strength in a mindful way.

‘I loved the classes – they progressed really well. It was nice to try the Yoga, I have never done it before.’

The evening meal was a jolly social gathering with lovely veggie food thought up and prepped by Jenny & Fran.

‘The food was amazing – seriously! Probably the best I have ever eaten.’

It wasn’t without the help & support of our two brilliant volunteers Maria & Sarah. Special thanks goes to Maria Mackie for the photos & the wonderful finishing touches.

 …And there was more

Guests also enjoyed swimming in the private pool on site, playing paddle tennis, beautiful local walks, snoozing in hammocks dotted around the land, outings to local places of interest such as Granada, the Costa Tropical, and the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

We LOVED our retreats in 2018, and found them to be a really energising relaxing experience. We can’t wait to start the journey again next year, and we’d love you to join us.

As you can see, we have had some excellent feed back from our previous guests which has encouraged us to organise another retreat from the 8th to the 15th June 2019.

Check out what Cat had to say about her experience of our lovely retreat…
